have you ever seen a 5.2 pressurize the cooling system with no misfire, no oil water mix, no combustion gas in coolant, and i blocked off egr lines? cold start up goes from 0psi to 5 psi in 1 minute,, any suggestions? maybe injector tube?

Excellent video. May I suggest that when talking about speed in general you also keep in mind that most "proper" Engineers who work in an International environment find the use of the French "MKS" or Meters, Kilograms, Seconds to be an abomination. Especially the use of Kilometres when it comes to speed. I suggest "miles per hour" is far more widely used and by some of us less hated as a cause of confusion and errors. The quality of your video makes it worthy of an International audience beyond the narrow (but very lovely) confines of Queensland, Australia. Party on.

My engineering mind tells me that there is little inlet control in all the engines displayed here, the only control mechanism is the turbine compressor, which I think is too little control of the air and drag. The scramjet just relies on the atmosphere and shape of the inlet.

I remember growing up as a teen and my parents bought this exact one for me. I'd be watching TV and just row all evening. Almost every evening. Oh how much I miss that piece of equipment.

Really good video, I just wish it was more in depth. Nothing was mentioned about how shockwaves are used in either the ram or scramjet… or how combustion occurs in supersonic airflows. Is this sort of information classified?

7:20 As of 10/08/2023 we now know for certain a ScramJet can do Mach 14. It's no coincidence Mach 14 has been the top speed predicted for Scramjets in wind tunnel testing. An aircraft transponder was registered flying over France from their northwestern border at 70,000 feet doing Mach 14 with tracking lost as it crossed Sardinia en route to Israel. It's extremely likely to be a drone as a human pilot would almost certainly suffer terrible trauma from G-forces. Without knowing for certain it's very likely the craft was United States Air Force's latest and greatest speed demon heading to Israel to help with the recent attacks. It's hard to imagine what spy tech the U.S. has that Israel doesn't already have but they wanted the craft there ASAP. It's possible the craft has some form of payload it delivered to the IDF that is crucial for the upcoming raids into Gaza? Whatever it was it was something that could not wait the standard 10.5 hours for a C-17 Globemaster III like the munitions that are currently arriving.

I bought a 1986 Jackaroo - somewhat nostalgic for simpler vehicles with some comforts (compared to my old BJ40). It seems a really great vehicle, a little underpowered with the 2.3 litre petrol engine, but fine for most 4WD and 2WD driving - probably not the best car for every day city driving, but I have it on club plates for weekends, although it would be fine if you lived in the country.

My other question is regarding the quest for hypersonic cruise missiles. From what I understand, ramjet engines are well demonstrated, and if they can infact reach Mach 6 or so, couldn't a ramjet powered cruise missile just be launched from a plane with a conventional solid rocket booster to accelerate it to mach 3+ and then detach like a rocket? If scramjets are more developed than I thought, the same logic applies.

Hypothetically, is there the possibility of an engine yet faster than that, where the flow of the air in the combustion chamber is still flowing at hypersonic speed, allowing velocities in the mach 20 or 25+ range? I understand the material science issues related to heat, hence the hypothetical.

Thanks for your useful video! I recently bought a Jupiter 21M at a local flea market. Price: 15 euros!!! Inspired by your video I started to search for a cheap tripod collar and found this: JJC TR-3. Its diameter is officially 68 mm. Like your Nikon RT-1 collar JJC-TR3 is mainly made of plastic, so it flexes enough to put the Jupiter lens into it. Works like it should!
